Be a part of the SPARK Perform Club

 Hey there, and welcome :)

We're super glad that you stopped by and we want to welcome you to our little community for modest athletes, women trying to be healthy, or basically anyone with a body that's interested in sport, fitness, health and...probably reading things on the internet.

Thanks for clicking in and reading about our little initiative.

Now, this post is sort of our mission statement, so it's going to be a little wordy. but we promise that in our day to day posts - we'll keep things short, sweet, and to the point.

This is a place where we want to celebrate people and women's athletics and we want to encourage you to be as confident and as (safely and reasonably) active as you can be. 

If health & fitness is a goal of yours (and we think it should be) we want to help you get there with us here at SPARK. We want to help you achieve and do more with your body, and we want to get information to you that can have a positive impact on your life.

And guess what, we're on that same journey too.

Yep! The team here at SPARK have been in lockdowns for the past year, just like you, we've eaten too much take-out, we've had movie binges and weekends spent on the couch, just like you.

There's nothing wrong with that, we've all done what we had to do in this crazy year (thanks COVID-19) - and now it's time to bring the focus back, and treat ourselves a little better.

Now, before we get started, we want to remind you of a couple of things:

You are a priority.

Your health is a priority.

Your quality of life is a priority.

If you've ever been on an airplane and paid attention to the flight safety instructions, you'll notice that in case of a drop in cabin pressure - you're supposed to put the mask on yourself before you help others.

There's a simple reason for this. 

If you're unconscious you can't really help anyone else - and that's exactly why it's so important to take care of yourself first.

We're not saying that you're responsible for anyone else, or that you have to feel like it's your duty to exercise so that you can lift a fallen tree off of someone in an emergency. 

We're just saying that You owe it to Yourself to take care of your body and mind, so that you can live the best life possible, one that we believe you certainly deserve.

So why are we saying all of this?

We're saying this because so many women out there feel they don't have time for themselves. They have to give time to their husbands, their children, their families, their careers and studies and tons of other responsibilities.

So many women are reluctant to take time for themselves because of...well about a million reasons.

Women have it tough, and they don't want to be selfish when the world so often expects women to be selfless.

Here's the thing though - being a caring and giving person doesn't mean neglecting your own needs.

Even if it is important to you to be able to care for others, you'll be more capable of doing that when you've also taken care of yourself.

Assuming that you're on board you might ask yourself, what is it that we can do to take care of ourselves? 

Well, there are of course so many things we can do to live better lives and we believe that treating our bodies well is a core part of moving in that direction. 

So we're inviting you to join us on the path of wellness though sport - if you are up for it of course :)

We're not talking about going for a gold medal, or running a triathlon (though if you're into that GREAT we can't wait to hear about your stories) we're just talking about getting more movement into our lives, in whatever way is realistic for you, and at whatever level makes sense for you.

As we do this, we hope you'll discover the mental and physical benefits of a more active lifestyle, and experience the knock-on effects that it can have in the other areas of our lives.

We hope that we can share with you what we love about sport, and that in turn together we can help as many people as possible live healthier, more active, and more rewarding lives as a result.

Let me tell you, we are so excited to go on this journey with you.

Finally we've got a SPARK Perform - Facebook Group for Ladies Only. We intend for this to be a safe space where you can exchange thoughts, advice and your journey with other women and modest athletes. We hope you'll use it to help each other learn and grow together on this path.
